Cabinets are a crucial aspect of any kitchen and there are many different types to choose from.
Here we have 5 classic materials laid out for you to help you figure out which would be best
for your new kitchen.  Visit the Lakeville Kitchen & Bath Showroom to see even more options.
KITCHEN CABINETRY WOOD TYPES

Cherry
These high-quality, traditional cabinets come in rich brown colors with reddish
hues that are known to become darker as they age.  The grains present on this
type of wood enable them to have finishes that will make the cabinets uniform.

Oak
Oak is unique as it is known to have knots and many different grain patterns.  This cabinet
material also comes in various colors from gold to brown and is able to be stained to fit
your style preferences.  Oak is also very durable, while remaining relatively inexpensive.

Maple

If you’re looking for a naturally lighter cabinet, than maple is a great choice.  Although
these cabinets can be stained, they are often finished clear to keep their light color. Maple is also the preferred wood type to paint on and is the base for almost every white kitchen out there.

 Quarter Sawn Oak

Quarter sawn oak is eye catching and is named after the method that is used to cut the wood.
This material has a unique and uniform grain pattern and generally comes in lighter colors.

MDF
Medium-Density Fiberwood (MDF) is composed of recycled wood fiber and resin, and it is
a great alternative to solid wood cabinets.  MDF is less expensive, does not have the same
grain markings as solid wood, and will not get damaged when exposed to high humidity.
